HANS-UWE BAUER

ACTOR

After training as a carpenter in East Berlin, Hans-Uwe Bauer returned to school as an acting student in 1980. After his training, he worked with many renowned directors, including Frank Beyer and Rainer Simon.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he appeared in “Good Bye Lenin” by Wolfgang Becker, “Sonnenallee” by Leander Haußmann, and “Das Leben der Anderen” directed by Florian Henkel von Donnersmarck, which won an Oscar in 2006. Today, it is impossible to imagine the German television landscape without his fine, precise acting.

In 2024, Hans-Uwe Bauer received the Lola Award for Best Supporting Actor at Deutscher Filmpreis for his exceptional performance in the feature film “Sterben,” directed by Matthias Glasner.

Hans-Uwe Bauer can be seen in "Sterben," directed by Matthias Glasner. The feature film is produced by Schwarzweiss Film, Port au Prince and Wild Bunch/Senator.
The film was screened at the Berlin International Film Festival 2024 in the Competition.
At Deutscher Filmpreis, the film was awarded as Best Feature Film and
Hans-Uwe Bauer received the award for Best Supporting Actor.
