DIRECTOR/WRITER
Helena Hufnagel attended the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). Her directorial debut, the documentary short “Erntefaktor Null,” was screened at more than 50 festivals worldwide, including as the opening film of Dok.Fest Forum München 2012, and was nominated for the German Short Film Award.
In 2014, she implemented a frozen-in-time shot in her short film “Willa,” based on Stephen King’s short story. The movie has been screened on 45 film festivals worldwide including the Oscar qualifying Palm Springs Filmfestival et al.
She co-wrote, co-produced, and directed her feature film debut “Einmal bitte alles” (“Pretty Far from Okay”), which brought her the Bayerischer Filmpreis – VGF Newcomer Producer Award among several further awards for directing.
In 2019 she directed “Tatort – Die harte Kern“ (Actors: Nora Tschirner and Christian Ulmen) which has been screened with an extraordinary rating. Her third movie “Generation Beziehungsunfähig“ (“Commitment Phobia“), which she co-wrote and directed, has celebrated its world premiere at Filmfest München and has been among the 12 best German theater releases in 2021.
In 2022/23 Helena Hufnagel directed the YA Fantasy Movie “Silver” (“Silber”), based on the popular novel series of the same name by Kerstin Gier and produced by Constantin Film for Amazon Studios.
