MATTHIAS PACHT

WRITER

Before Matthias Pacht studied screenwriting at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg (FABW), he completed a degree in musicology and worked as a musician and copywriter for a decade. Since 1999, he has been writing screenplays for cinema and television, receiving numerous awards and widespread popular and critical acclaim. 2005 Pacht received a scholarship to complete an artist residence at the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles in 2005.

His debut feature film script, “Mein Bruder der Vampir,” (2002) and its film adaptation received 16 national and international awards. His next film, “September,” screened in the Certain Regard series at the Cannes Film Festival.

For the screenplay of the feature film “Das wahre Leben,” which he wrote together with his long-time collaborator Alex Buresch, Pacht received the Thomas Strittmatter Drehbuch Prize in 2004, the Deutschen Filmkritik Prize in 2007, and the Grimme Prize in 2009. Pacht and Alex Buresch have also cowritten numerous “Tatorte” and “Polizeirufe” for directors such as Hendrik Handloegten, Rainer Kaufmann, Andreas Kleinert, and Marco Kreuzpaintner.

Pacht’s adaptation of “Die kleine Hexe,” starring Karoline Herfurth, was one of the most successful children's films, with almost two million viewers. The film received the 2018 Gilde Film Award as well as a nomination for the German Film Award as Best Children's Film.

COMING UP

 

NEUE GESCHICHTEN VOM PUMUCKL

The second season of the successful remake of the children's series has been filming since the end of May.
Neuesuper is producing for RTL+. Matthias Pacht is responsible as headwriter together with Korbinian Dufter, Marcus H. Rosenmüller is directing. It will be broadcast at the end of 2025

PUMUCKL UND DAS GROSSE MISSVERSTÄNDNIS

The team of the PUMUCKL series is also working on the feature film "Pumuckl und das große Missverständnis".

Shooting started tis summer in Munich and the surrounding area and will continue into the fall.
